Description
MOPHING PEOPLE is an alternative rock unit formed in 2021 by Makoto Miyoshi (RUMANIA
MONTEVIDEO) and Litsuko (ex-SHONEN KNIFE). Their music is characterized by a unique collision of
roaring noise and infectious, catchy melodies—delivering a sound that is both ultra-noisy and ultra-pop.
Infusing indie and shoegaze sensibilities with a distinctly Japanese melodic flair, they have carved out a
truly one-of-a-kind presence.
Their 1st EP reached #1 on the iTunes Alternative Chart, and they quickly gained international acclaim,
being featured in “Japan Is Loud,” a compilation by Cartoon Network’s “adult swim” (USA). With their highly anticipated 2nd full-length album “res andres,” MOPHING PEOPLE continues to evolve as a defining alternative rock band. While staying true to their signature alternative rock, shoegaze, and
lo-fi roots, this new record sees the band boldly venturing into uncharted territories like math rock and
power pop.
The opening song of the album “Movin’ On” is a brilliant, ultra-catchy, and clean power-pop anthem that
perfectly captures a sense of youthful camaraderie and moving forward. The song embodies the band’s
current mindset: constantly evolving, unstoppable, always moving, and never looking back. With lyrics
like “And I’m gone, I’m moving on / To a place where I belong,” it is an uplifting driving tune that radiates
a sense of hard-won freedom and determination.
But “Movin’ On” is just the tip of the iceberg, the entire album is a masterclass in versatile songwriting.
From gritty, cool indie-alternative anthems to raw grunge-infused tracks „res andres“ delivers a dynamic sound where every song stands out as a potential hit. It is a brilliant, multifaceted record that effortlessly blends high-energy rock with unforgettable melodies.
