Description
After three years, LES ROBOTS return with their much-anticipated new album: ‘Intermission | Optigan’. Built around the warped charm of a broken Optigan, a forgotten Mattel (He-Man, Barbie) keyboard from the late ’60s, this record is packed with instrumental robo-weirdness. Drawing inspiration from Joe Meek, The Ventures, Jean Jacques Perrey, 50s/60s soundtracks, Stockhausen, The Shadows and more, ‘Intermission | Optigan’ somehow feels more human, playful, and alive than most music on Earth today. Not bad for a crew of iron idiots from beyond the stars. But what do these music machines themselves think of their new album?
“0101.0.0.111 0.1.1.0.1.0.1-… 0011.1.1” says D.V.R., which translates as “I think it’s our best album up until now”. 1.0.1.01.01.01.000 -1-1-1.0.0.0 111000-.-.-.-1.0.1.0.1.000” R-JoHn adds, “I agree.” So sit back, pour yourself a cold beverage, and let these meticulously crafted sonic adventures carry you away.
