Recorded in 2003 with producer John Congleton and remastered in 2023 by Carl Saff from recovered reels, Songs of Discontinuity captures Milwaukee’s Murder in the Red Barn at the height of their creativity. Their sound was raw and unorthodox—acoustic guitars run through double-stacked bass amps, creating a jagged, low-end heaviness that defined their live shows. The record blends math-rock precision, posthardcore urgency, and noise-rock abrasion into a collection that feels tense, heavy,
and cathartic.
Long considered a lost gem of the Midwest underground, this reissue brings new life to a band that carved out their own path in the early 2000s scene. The artwork draws directly from the band’s original concepts, presented in a gatefold jacket with a beautiful gloss finish that complements the weight of the music.
