Formed in Los Angeles by Chicago transplants Mark Breyer and David Winogrond, later joined by guitarist Bruce Wagner, Skooshny self-released a handful of singles on their own Alien Records label that earned glowing reviews — Bomp! compared Breyer’s voice to a young Brian Wilson and the music to a folkier Big Star — before becoming prized collector’s items in Europe. Spanning basement demos, home-studio sessions, and recordings made at Michael Penn’s backyard four-track, this essential collection traces a decade of instinctive, melodic songwriting.
