Norwich based Metal band HEDRA are to release their latest Album ‘‘THE PECKING ORDER’ 11/11/22Recorded in 2020& 2021during the Covid19 Pandemic where many bands including the bands idols‘Anathema’ decided that music was no longer a feasible option.
HEDRA muscled on with passion and drive as they’ve done since their formation in 2014. The animalistic ways in which the Pandemic was handled was a visual inspiration,with Boris Johnson regularly behaving as though his public in country were the offspring fallen from the nest and the desperation to bring us back to securitytriggered a spark in Vocalist Jim to make reference to animal behaviours and their instinct, the similarity between human and animal relationships was the concept for ‘off the cuff’ lyrical scribingwhich happened only at the time of laying down the vocals.
There was a need to go back to basics and to create a rawness last remembered during the grunge era of the 90’s, the drums were left as mic’d recordings from a real kit, the Guitars of Kamil & Bart & low bass from Kozi were set to a minimalistic garage recording vibe leaving an earthy yet dynamic sound that perhaps many have been missing since the home recording processes became more knowledgeable amongst the underground.
